Lord, I thank you for the privilege of working in our family business all my adult life. I love working here; it is a huge blessing in my life.

My hope and prayer is that this business has been pleasing to you in the past and will bring you honor and glory in the future. But I am reminded about how selfish and flawed I am as a man. I’m reminded of how flawed my entire family is, and our entire leadership team. Apart from you there is no good in us. We need your help, your power and your direction in our lives.

First, starting with me, help our entire family to understand that we really don’t own this company it is all yours. Psalm 24:1 teaches us that the earth is the Lord’s and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it. We are just stewards who have responsibility for a short time. And as stewards, we will be held accountable to the owner.

Please help us keep this stewardship mentality and to be good stewards with our financial resources that come to us as a result of this business. Please help us understand and remember that it really is all about you and not about us.

Help our entire leadership team create the proper culture and environment for our people. A culture characterized by excellence, integrity, and really caring about each other. An environment that is healthy and enjoyable for each employee. We spend too much time at work for it not to be fun for our people. Help us to make it fun!

And Lord, please help us to also bring honor to you here in the workplace as we have the opportunity to talk about you. Whether it is through our devotions, Bible studies, corporate chaplains, or just one-on-one relationships, please help people come to know you and to grow in you as a result of being a part of this company.

I am reminded and tremendously grateful of how you saved me in 1987 through my boss here at work. There was something different about him. He clearly had something I didn’t and I wanted it. I needed it! That something was you. Help me to be as great of a witness to others as he was to me.

And finally Lord, I pray for the next generation of family members, as well as the future non-family leaders in our business. I pray that this group of people will have an even deeper passion to serve you than any predecessors before them. I pray that you will give them wisdom and a true heart for the people who make up our company. I pray that you will be pleased and receive honor through this business for a long, long time.
